2000 - 2019: Neptune-Pluto Septile: A septile is one-seventh of a 360° circle, and is thus an angle of about 51°. While astrologers normally do not devote much space to septiles in reading for their individual clients or the planet as a whole, they're making an exception for the one that began in September, 2000 and will continue until well after the End of Time forecast for 2012. As Neptune, now in Aquarius, and Pluto in Sagittarius are the two slowest-moving planets in our solar system, angles of relationship between them tend to be very long-lasting, as this one is. It continues through Pluto's crossing into Capricorn (2008) and the entry of Neptune into Pisces (2011), and does not begin to fade until 2019.
Both these planets pertain to specific areas of mass consciousness. Pluto is more political, social and technological in his sphere of influence, governing mass movements, the collapse and regeneration of governments and other institutions, and such technologies as computers and encyryption and espionage systems. Neptune is more mystical and aesthetic, holding a greater sway in the realm of mass spiritual and religious beliefs. Thus Tem Tarriktar of Mountain Astrologer expects this aspect to entail “global war and blatant propaganda, with extreme polarization on many levels,” as occurred when these planets were last in septile in 1937 40. Tarriktar quotes a valuable take on this septile by astrologer Edward Gilliam, writing about the actions of seventh-harmonic (7H) personalities, and the premise that a seventh-harmonic person or event, like the discordant interval of a seventh on a musical scale, represents a temporary harshness and discomfort that the music may go through until it resolves into the harmony of the octave.
“This journey into the dark, the shocking and the chaotic," Gilliam believes, "appears to emerge when we examine mundane and natal seventh-harmonic charts. . . . [The] seventh harmonic . . . can be a dark and overwhelming place - full of fears, surprises, taboos, and confrontations with ‘otherness.’ The 7H individual is someone who appears to be "living on the edge" as a ‘disorderer,’ renegade, or iconoclast, or someone who prods social conscience. The 7H event (typically a shocking human act) appears unannounced and unwelcome but may be a desperate final cry, from the darkest places in the collective psyche, perhaps to ‘re-balance' power relationships and to acknowledge the rights of disowned and dispossessed peoples.” (Mountain Astrologer, Feb. March, 2003)
We are now about one-fourth of the way through the Neptune-Pluto septile period, and we can readily imagine what some of the 7H events have been and will be. And the 7H people, including such candidates as Osama bin Laden, Hugo Chavez of Venezuela -- no wonder assassins are after both -- and, for that matter, the indigo children, who are here to bust old systems and limits, and clear them away.
Feb. 2005 - Feb. 2011: Chiron in Aquarius: For these six years, except for brief moves back into Capricorn and ahead into Pisces, the planet of the holistic healer will be in the sign of friendship and community, with all that this implies for individual health and planetary healing achieved by growing teams of like-minded light physicians.
Chiron's move into Aquarius signals that the hard and painful years of Chiron in Capricorn opposite Saturn in Cancer -- for more on this see Saturn and Chiron -- have ended at least for now, until Saturn crosses into Leo in July, and opposes Chiron again. As astrologer Carolyn Brent has noted, the Saturn-Chiron opposition was exact on the day of the Aceh Tsunami on Dec. 26, 2004. See the Shamanic Astrology website for her complete article "Chiron in Aquarius: The Kindness Revolution Elixir."
Feb. - June 2005: Pluto trine Dragon’s Head: From Feb. 1 through the Summer Solstice in June, a span of almost five months, there is a “fire trine” between Pluto in Sagittarius and the Moon’s North Node, or Dragon’s Head, in Aries. As Pluto is “retrograde” that is, apparently moving backward through most of this period, and the Moon’s Nodes always move backward through the zodiac, these two slow-moving energies are in an unusually long, and unusually important, relationship.
This long-lasting trine is in effect the glue that holds the first half of this year together when the most combative instincts and passions of many furiously self-righteous people are trying to pull it apart. It is possible now to use means of mass communication, especially computer-generated persuasion and imagery, to cool fanatics and to encourage light and love workers who may be prone to drooping faith in the spring of 2005. It is worth noting that this trine was exact on the same day Chiron recently entered Aquarius.
March 20 - April 12: Mercury Retrograde: What fun, as you know if you have interest in these things. For some three weeks, Mercury appears to go both reverse and perverse, bringing confusion, blockage, delay and often astonishing human ineptitude and weirdness to the sectors of communications, transportation and commerce that he rules. Those who live in serenity are wonderfully entertained; those who live in judgment have more targets for criticism than they can possibly have time to reload and fire at. This time it all happens while Mercury is in Aries, where his anxious avidity can produce wasteful haste and words that wound. Those who tend to speak without weighing their words -- such as Sagittarius and Aquarius types -- may do damage that they will regret if they are less than fully conscious now.
April 8 - 9: New Moon and Annular-Total Solar Eclipse: On the day that some people mark the Buddha's birthday -- though most devotees celebrate it on Wesak, this year April 24, when the Moon is full in Taurus month -- we get the most active and spectacular-looking New Moon of the year, served complete with an annular-total solar eclipse, so called because in some areas the eclipse is annular, with a thin ring of the Sun visible around the Moon's disk, while in other areas the eclipse is total. This New Moon comes on a Friday evening, sacred to Venus, and the eclipse is visible in the southern USA, Central America, most of South America and New Zealand, so this is a truly superb time for ceremonies and meditations of aligning planetary energy.
The New Moon features a four-part conjunction of Sun, Moon, Venus and the Moon's North Node in Aries, all square (90° from) Saturn in Cancer, opposite Jupiter in Libra, sextile (60° from) Mars and Neptune in mid-Aquarius, quintile (72° from) Chiron in early Aquarius and trine (120° from) Pluto in Sagittarius. The effect of all this can be a curious combination of celebrating the joys and rewards of love unions -- in both couples and communities -- while at the same time bringing up and clearing soul dirt that is getting in the way of greater richness and intimacy in relationships.
Venus, who conjoins Sun, Moon and Dragon's Head at this New Moon and eclipse, is "in detriment" in Aries, her feminine power weakened and limited by the Mars force of the Ram's masculine fire. This means that for couples in love relationships, the special issue of this New Moon is the disempowerment of the feminine. There will likely be some bumpy conversations, even some heated conflicts over this around April 8 - 10. Some couples will come through clarified and stronger; others will separate. Those who celebrate on this weekend, whether couples, families or communities, had best be ready for unexpected tears and unloading of emotional sludge from themselves, and for assisting the heart-cleansing crises of others. If we care for one another, all will feel wonderfully serene and whole by the end of the evening.

May 1: Global Love Day: The first Global Love Day in 2004 attracted such wide interest and support that the second one this year is the focus of plans and endorsements in 60 countries so far. It does help that Sunday May 1 is Beltaine, the ancient spring love feast. For more on this year's plans, contact organizer John T. Goltz at jtgoltz@thelovefoundation.com.
June 1 - 2: Oneness Celebration: Those who've been following the 13-year Galactic Creation Cycle described by Mayanist Carl Johan Calleman, and have read with growing interest his articles about the 360-day tun phases from 1999 to 2011, know that we are now in the cycle's central Fourth Day -- and seventh tun of thirteen -- and the months from last November through November 2005 are expected to be a time of increasing receptivity and awakening to the divine plan for the spiritual evolution of humankind. Why is June 1 - 2 so important? It's the midpoint of the entire 4,680-day cycle, when the illuminating force of the Fourth Day should be greatest. This is why Calleman and his team are working to organize the global Oneness Celebration on the days when, in their reckoning, the light is strongest. More on this on Calleman's website and in the May UFC.
